EXHIBITION RUNS APR 8 – APR 10, 2016
GALLERY HOURS, SATURDAY/SUNDAY 12-5
OPENING APR 8, 8:00PM

In 2014, while Erin Brubacher, Cara Spooner and Jordan Tannahill were making and rehearsing for the first full theatre production of Concord Floral, Brubacher traveled to the homes of the ten teenage collaborators who performed the piece. She photographed them where they live, in their bedrooms, in neighbourhoods across the Greater Toronto Area.

Brubacher and each subject decided on the perspective of her/his portrait together before she framed the image. They were shot from the position furthest back from the performer that she could stand in her/his bedroom. All images were made with a rollieflex camera, with long exposures, two frames per subject, in the light of the rooms as it was.

This is my room. Look. is an ongoing series that continues in Calgary in 2016, with Theatre Junction’s production of Concord Floral, April 13-16 at Theatre Junction GRAND.
