AVALANCHE! Institute of Contemporary Art is pleased to present Buddha, Why Am I Alone? , an exhibition of new works by Lindsay Sorell.
/ EXHIBITION TEXT
In the middle of writing an essay on death a couple of years ago, I spilled an entire glass of water on my laptop in panic-induced slow-motion. I watched my wrist tilt, fully grasping a brimming glass of water, and continue to empty the glass until it was dry.
I pull the self-pity card. I say it wasn’t my fault. Sometimes things happen and it was no one’s fault, but if it’s no one’s fault, how can I believe in justice?
/ ARTIST BIO
Lindsay Sorell was born in Red Deer. She has shown in and written for exhibitions across Canada, recently facilitating a children’s workshop on the Fluxus movement at the Banff Centre, curating a screening of Toronto’s Canadian Vtape collection, and starting a fake gallery in Calgary’s community of Bridgeland. There, at the Toronto Gallery of Calgary, she can show anything she wants.
